With the cooperation of the National Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and the Algorithmic Constitutionalism Momentum Research Group, the Institute for Legal Studies will launched a new event series in autumn 2025 under the title:
Sustainable use of artificial intelligence in legal work
At the opening event, Deputy State Secretary Szabolcs Szolnoki and Research Professor Zsolt Ződi reviewed the latest developments regarding the national implementation of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.
The third event will focus on the legal and practical issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in law enforcement. The law-enforcement application of AI raises a number of scholarly questions, especially in the field of surveillance, where new dimensions of data collection and analysis are emerging—on the one hand in crime prevention and prosecution, and on the other hand in the monitoring and profiling of citizens. Respect for personality rights is of paramount importance, as is the definition of ethical and legal frameworks, since the lack of regulation of such uses of technology may enable various abuses. At the roundtable discussion, we will explore these dilemmas with the participation of our invited guests.
Participants in the roundtable discussion:
- Réka Gyaraki, Associate Professor, University of Public Service (NKE)
- Levente Tóth, Assistant Professor, University of Public Service (NKE)
Moderator: Rudolf Berkes, Project Researcher, Institute for Legal Studies
Date and time: Thursday, 5 February 2026, 10:00–12:00
Venue: Humán Tudományok Háza, Jogtudományi Intézet Tanácsterem (1097 Budapest, Tóth Kálmán utca 4)
Participation is subject to prior registration via email at JTI.Titkarsag@tk.hu
